Sean For President

October 7, 2011

Sean Gallagher our Cavan Man for President
Sean learned from an early age that hard work was the only way to overcome life’s difficulties. Born with congenital cataracts, he was almost blind as a child. He struggled through his early years until pioneering surgery saved his sight. Then the advice of an encouraging primary school Headmaster was to change his life: “if you can dream it, you can become it”. That advice became his life’s mantra.
At 18 Sean wrote a life plan and over the intervening years, he relentlessly pursued and achieved every one of his goals.
On leaving school he attended Agricultural College where on completion he bought a farm at the age of 21. At 26, he became a professional Youth and Community worker. By 28, he became a full time Political Adviser to the then Minister for Health, Dr. Rory O Hanlon T.D. Sean went on to take up a position as assistant CEO of Louth County Enterprise Board where he specialised in developing and presenting “start-your-own business” courses to budding entrepreneurs. He graduated with an MBA from the University of Ulster in 2000. It would be just wonderful to have a Cavan Man in the Aras and wonderful for the North-West.

March 8, 2011

Eucharistic Congress 2012. The International Eucharistic Congress will give Ireland €7m boost. It starts on June 10th and ends with open-air Mass in Croke Park on June 17th. Pope Benedict selected Dublin to host the 50th Internationl Congress. Cardinal Sean Brady on behalf of the Irish Bishops Conference has invited Pope Benedict to attend. The only previous time the Congress took place in Dublin was in 1932, one million Catholics attended then and it is hoped that 80,000 people will attend the Mass and 12,000 visitors will visit Ireland during that time. For accommodation when visiting Ireland visit www.fortview.com. I hope it will mean the same in 2012 as it did in 1932 to the people of Ireland

Christmas 20110

Dinner at fortview

What a wonderful white Christmas we had at our B&B. With three different nationalities ( German English & Irish) around our dinner table on Christmas Day and outside like a picture, what more could one ask for.Our home produced turkey, all home cooking and my own wine topped off with christmas cake left everyone sleeping in front of the turf fire until the CD of 2010 Fleadh Cheoil in Cavan woke us up. 3hrs later we were all still looking at it as it was so entertaining. Happy 2011 to all our visitors past present & future.

All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil 2012 back in Cavan

September 15, 2010

Cavan Town will host the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in August 2012. Such was the success of the Fleadh in Cavan last month, that for the first time in its history.
Personally for us in the B&B sector it was one of the most enjoyable weeks we have had in our guesthouse, when breakfast was over the music session started around the table, they sang, played and danced until it was time to hit the town. We can’t wait for August the 10th to 20th 2012. To book your accommodation visit www.fortview.com or Tel: 0494338185
